Every family has its secrets...

Josephina Harris wouldn't mind if her family still had a few of their own after a lawsuit tarnishes their name. When an opportunity opens to become a temporary keeper of a decommissioned lighthouse on a North Carolina island, she jumps at the chance to escape her small town to oversee its restoration.

As the work begins, "Joey" discovers strange notes tucked deep in the crevices of the old stone walls—pages torn from a lighthouse keeper's log signed by someone named Mae who recounts harrowing rescues at sea. Fascinated by a woman lighthouse keeper, Joey digs into the past only to discover there's never been a record of a lighthouse keeper by that name.

When things start to go amiss on the island, locals are convinced that it is the ghost of the lighthouse keeper and his daughter who were lost at sea during World War II. As Joey sifts through decades of rumors and legends and puts together the pieces of the past, what emerges is a love story—one that's not over yet.

Multiple Christy Award winner Amanda Cox is your guide upon the raging seas of young love, heartbreaking loss, and learning to risk it all for a chance at happiness in this timeless novel.

That summer, I finally grew into myself. The problem? I grew too fast. And fruit that grows too fast often bursts in the sunshine.

For Clem, summers are for Maine—for wandering the blueberry barrens, helping her grandmother on the farm, and stargazing with her parents. But her grandmother is gone, she hasn’t talked to her mom in months, and her dad is devoted to the family business. Now, all Clem wants to think about is a dance audition that could get her into Juilliard. She doesn’t need another distraction. Then she meets Rico. He’s nothing like the boys back home in LA or the boys in Maine, either. His secrets rival her own and as they grow closer, she must confront the hidden realities of places she thought she knew.

In Julie True Kingsley’s debut novel, Clem and Rico’s worlds are threatening to tear them apart. Can they bridge the space between them before summer is just a memory?

The explosive conclusion to Robbed Blind.

When Confronted by Evil One Final Time, Can Jack Hold a Hard Line?

Hard Line, the final book in master crime writer Gerry Boyle's long-running and award-winning Jack McMorrow series, concludes the two-book story arc he started in Robbed Blind with action ripped from current events as well as visits from old characters. McMorrow finds himself balancing a personal vendetta against the dangerous man who has abused a family friend with a lethal biker gang hunting for him and his crew. Not to mention fielding calls from reporters and dealing with growing suspicions about his daughter's new teacher. In McMorrow's last adventure, he must use his decades of talent in a stand-off between the forces of violent chaos and law and order-all set amidst the quiet pines, rough towns, and gray skies of rural Maine.

As he faces down the end of everything he has held sacred-can Jack keep it all together without becoming the very thing he hates? If he even survives.

In 1979, 2 Tone Records exploded into the consciousness of music lovers in Britain, the US, and beyond, as albums by The Specials, The Selecter, Madness, The English Beat, and The Bodysnatchers burst onto the charts and a youth movement was born.

2 Tone was Black and white: a multiracial force of British and Caribbean musicians singing about social issues, racism, class, and gender struggles. It spoke of injustices in society and fought against right-wing extremism.

The music of 2 Tone was exuberant: white youth learning to dance to the infectious rhythm of ska and reggae crossed with a punk attitude created an original hybrid. The idea of 2 Tone was born in Coventry, England, and masterminded by a middle-class art student, Jerry Dammers, who envisioned an English Motown. Borrowing £700, the label’s first record featured “Gangsters” by The Specials, backed by an instrumental track by the as-yet-unformed Selecter. Within two months, the single reached number six on the UK music charts. Dammers went on to sign Madness, The English Beat, and The Bodysnatchers as a glut of successive hits propelled 2 Tone artists onto Top of the Pops and into the hearts and minds of a generation.

As excitement grew in the United States, 2 Tone bands began crossing the Atlantic to perform for American audiences. Soon, however, infighting among the bands and the pressures of running a label caused 2 Tone to bow to the inevitable weight of expectation and recrimination.

Still under the auspices of Jerry Dammers, 2 Tone entered a new phase. Perhaps not as commercially successful as its 1979–1981 incarnation, the label nevertheless continued to thrive for another four years, releasing a string of fresh signings and a stunning end-piece finale in the activist hit song “(Free) Nelson Mandela.”

Told in three parts, Too Much Too Young is the definitive story of a label that for a brief, bright burning moment shaped British, American, and world culture.

World War II and Nevada is an in-depth examination of the state's role in the war.

Nevada's geographic location, land, sky, mineral resources, and the sacrifices of its people were crucial to victory—and transformed the state. The war brought the first significant development of the gaming industry; the introduction of a huge, permanent military presence; the diversification of its population; and a shift in political and economic power within the region.

Nevada's previously unexamined role in the internment of Japanese Americans is explored, and so too is the role of women and minority groups in support of the war. The book concludes with a comprehensive list of those killed, wounded, or made prisoners of war during the conflict.

Weller provides the most thorough analysis of Nevada's war effort to date and historians will find the book a valuable addition to their World War II history collections.

Glenn Helka’s business has never been what you’d call lucrative. But chasing bond jumpers and following cheating spouses pays the bills. Most of the bills. Some of the time. Occasionally.

When a woman drops a fat stack of cash on his desk to bring her wayward son home from Mexico, Glenn thinks he has it made. One tiny detail—the son is dead, and the local authorities are refusing to release his body.

Was it the money or the haunting look on the face of the bereaved mother? Maybe it was Glenn’s barely functioning moral compass finally pointing true north. Or, in this case, south to Mexico where he takes on corrupt government officials, drug-dealing hitmen, and everything the desert can throw at him.

Fans of Joe R. Lansdale’s Hap & Leonard series won’t want to miss Mexicanos Hustle, Southern Noir at its finest.

When Herman Rabinowitz's identity was stolen, the thieves were so thorough they practically took the corpus Hermanus along with it.

Using the opportunity of falling off the grid to reinvent himself, Herman bought a Harley and became Paco. Along with a group of similarly off-the-grid bikers, he formed the Bedouins, with Paco as their "leader of the pack."

There is, however, only so much leading the Bedouins one can do without becoming seriously convinced there must be a lot more to life, and Paco decides it might be time for him to reconnect with the Rabinowitz he used to be.

The problem is, every aspect of his old persona is now somewhere else. Finding and stealing his identity back will require navigating a worldwide web full of fake Hermans, gobbling them up, Pac-Man-like, until only the original identity thief remains.

After that comes the tricky part.

Lumberlane Wall, the murderous giant who stood over seven feet, looked down at his opponent and laughed.

"Dwarf," he said, "you've given me such a sight that I almost hate to kill you. A midget with a stick against a man with a battle ax! No one told me the great Orion was insane."

In the post-cataclysmic realm of what was once Southern Utah, dwarfs now greatly outnumber the "oversized" humans, who are too often hunted and slaughtered as ineducable savages by the new majority. But Orion questions this. He leaves his home and his community behind in Middle Village and sets out on a quest of personal discovery, as well as to search for an intriguing oversized woman that he's seen traveling alone through the wilderness, where New World survival can be difficult.

In the tradition of literature's greatest heroes and journeys, Dwarf Days challenges modern notions of courage, determination, and justice and asks us all to take a look at the values we hold dear.

Reignite The Embers is perfect for fans of Kate Baer and Melody Godfred!

Reignite The Embers is a collection of poems portraying the beautiful, and sometimes confusing, journey of new beginnings. From the ashes of broken dreams and stifled confidence, to the spark of a sudden connection and new love, these words stand tall in their underlying message: There is new life in the act-and courage-of starting over.

This collection is a winding path from heartbreak to numbness, doubt to distrust, fear to empowerment, physical awakening to mental serenity, unforeseen love for both oneself and an unlikely partner, and finally, unexpected peace.

Boasting a cast of dreamful characters, from Young Escher to George Bailey to a wide array of inanimate objects absconded from the dark tonics of our childhood - be they headless dolls, cuckoo clocks, inverted carpets or ravenous prisms, Skull Kingdoms: An Imaginary Omnibus dives headlong into the radii of the imagination, measuring our inner landscapes against the sharp, enchanted edges of the playgrounds we create to keep us safe from the outer world.

In these formally audacious escapologies, speakers duck the responsibilities of adulthood, choosing to crash into Ottomans or sway along with imaginary galleons over the violence of growing up and its hungry regimes that would blot out all color to leave us listless.

Concluding with a roleplaying game of loneliness, Skull Kingdoms proposes a fanciful, novel cartography for reimagining an otherwise jagged, savagery of terrain.

On a foggy morning in New York City, a man and a woman are about to run into each other, literally.

Upon impact, they fall to the ground in an instinctively protective hug. The fog dissipates, and they stare into each other's eyes in disbelief, at the sheer magnitude of their bodily collision and their subsequent, spontaneous coupling. They laugh. The man, a writer, invites the woman, an artist, for coffee and they talk until lunch. They date. They fall in love, hard. They marry just two months later. And four years later, their marriage is on the precipice of disaster.

On a foggy morning in New York City, the same man and woman pass through the fog, oblivious of each other's existence. Until five years later, when the writer finds an oval-shaped locket no bigger than his thumbnail, a tiny white dress painted within the boundary of its golden border.

Lines is about possibilities, about the choices we make - or fail to make. It's a star-crossed love story; it's a bitter tragedy. It's about Josh and Abby and their intertwined lives, together and apart, through births and deaths and the beautiful mess in between.

In a small, idyllic town in North Dakota, 17-year-old Ophelia Johnson and five other teens inherit the powers of the Greek gods—Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Artemis, Apollo, and Ares—and embark on a mission from the Vessel of Destiny to find the missing Fates, restore the Codex, and save the ancient world.

Still grieving the recent and mysterious death of her father, Ophelia begins to unravel the secrets woven into her family’s history as she and her friends plunge into the quest of a lifetime. Armed only with powers they don’t totally understand, Ophelia, Roman, Cassius, Olivia, Alessia, and Baxter are soon immersed in a mythical chess match upon which rests the fate of the universe. As they journey into a world of blood pacts and war, the diverse teens find more than they bargained for, and Ophelia discovers a family tie that might mean the ensuing chaos and destruction is her fault.

Of Blood and Lightning is a contemporary YA fantasy (age 14-21) with a gripping and fresh twist on Greek mythology as the ancient pantheon of gods inhabit an ensemble of diverse teenaged characters.

Micki Janae is an Alabama-based author on a mission. Tired of growing up with scant representation of young Black women in fantasy, Janae took matters into her own hands to craft a compelling novel full of intricate world-building, electrifying storytelling, and diverse characters.

For fans of Black Beauty and A Horse Named Sky, here’s a new middle grade novel by award-winning author and former horse trainer Celia Ryker, with illustrations by Kathy Connell.

Big Guy is about a show horse who has big changes to face, and who learns that friendships can last beyond the time you share together.

Big Guy is a big horse dealing with big changes. His looks and talent have helped him win blue ribbons at the biggest horse shows in the country. But when old age and injury make him unfit for winning prizes, his owner retires him to a position as a school horse, giving riding lessons to children. At the school horse barn, Big Guy meets Shorty, Kaiser, Slippy and many other horses who teach him about running in wide open fields and being part of a herd.

Uplifting, funny, and sweet, Big Guy is a simple story told from the horse’s point of view that reads like a night under the stars, or an afternoon racing to a hay field.

Anastasia with her husband Ryan are sent to the Russian held Kuril Islands in the North Pacific Ocean to stop the UK being involved in a nuclear holocaust against the Russian Federation and China.

They get aboard the UK aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth which is in the Sea of Okhotsk. On the opposite side of the Kuril Islands are a large number of Russian Federation and Chinese warships with submarines from both countries.

Anastasia finds her Russian warship carrying two Thermonuclear Russian Federation ICBMs to the Kuril Islands with a number of undesirables. Anastasia and Ryan must rescue the wives of the abducted UK physicists, put them on a plane back to the UK before locating their husbands and stop a nuclear war. When Anastasia is captured by Russians, it is up to Ryan to save her and get her safely off a radioactive Russian warship before they fathom out who is telling the truth, who is not who they say they are. There is much more to this war and spy thriller than just a nuclear explosion, it goes back 500 years in the UK's past, and the French want their just revenge at all costs, even if they need to use the new USSR Uprising to initiate it.

Anastasia is even more romantic than before and has a huge sexual appetite for her husband Ryan. With Anastasia taken seriously ill, there is nothing Ryan will not do to save her life and that includes taking her to Paris in one of their Mikhailov latest Orbs at ten time the speed of sound. The in-depth romance between Anastasia and Ryan, the love they have for each other, their sexual feelings towards each other have all the makings for a spy novel with plenty of action, and of course, total destruction.

Before winning the 1934 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, Robert Hillyer (1895-1961) explored a variety of subjects and poetic forms in his books.

This new poetry collection contains six of Hillyer’s pre-Pulitzer books in their entirety, including a longer narrative poem (Carmus) that is a haunting fairy tale for adults.

Hillyer was classmates with E.E. Cummings at Harvard and became lifelong friends with Robert Frost (who said that he and Hillyer had been “running side-by-side all these years, and he knows that I think of his poetry as he thinks of mine: with affection … (and) … admiration.” While poets of Hillyer’s era were flirting with modernism, imagism and symbolism, Hillyer was working with sonnets and pastorals, mostly rejecting free verse and the “existential agonies of modern man” in order to write about eternal themes like nature, love and death. Hillyer was not really an innovator. Hillyer felt most comfortable writing sonnets and other constricted forms with meter and rhyme, and his poems rarely sounded artificial or stilted. Although occasionally the poems used allusions to art and history and mythology, the poems mostly remained accessible and didn’t require elaborate footnotes.

This ebook edition also contains illustrations by Beatrice Stevens and two books of translations: a collection of Danish poetry and an improved translation in verse of the Egyptian Book of the Dead. It also includes an essay about Robert Hillyer’s poetry by horror writer Arthur Machen and an essay that Hillyer wrote comparing Egyptian religion with Christianity.

This book is a very comprehensive introduction to the fascinating subject of philosophy.

It is a treasure trove of ideas and the history of ideas, and its clear use of terms and definitions means it is accessible to both the student and non-student alike.

The main text of the book is divided into four sections:

Part one is an introduction to philosophy in the academic sense, covering definitions, scope, methods, tools, and the theory of knowledge.

Part two is a chronological review of Western philosophy from the ancient Greeks to the present day. The ideas of each main philosopher are clearly presented, together with notes on their background, the times they lived in, and a current appreciation of their legacy.

Part three is a short but fascinating section providing an introduction to Eastern philosophy. It is included both for completeness and as a comparison/contrast to the Western approach.

Part four brings us up to date by providing an overview of philosophy informed by science. It's not that science has all the answers by any means, it's just that any answers science does present (e.g. the fact of evolution) can't be ignored; making things up is no longer an option!

Also central to part four is the pulling together of ideas from philosophers like David Hume, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Daniel Dennett, Richard Rorty and others to create a compelling description of the interwoven nature of mental concepts, language, and meaning. This is presented in parallel with an exploration of the connection between external reality and the way in which we understand that reality.

This Kind of Man offers an unvarnished look at life in 21st Century America, excavating the complicated, tender, wild truth of what it is to be a man across generations and relationships.

These stories interrogate the pressures and tensions of contemporary life, and the ways men grapple with them, often without success. Issues such as marriage, fatherhood, aggression, alcoholism, gender expectations, generational backlash, and the inexorable dread of death, abound.

Many of these stories live within a slow implosion of coping, and often failing, as well as those who refuse to succumb, addressing concerns oft-discussed, or not discussed enough, in mainstream print: gun violence, the recent history of coal country Appalachia, sports-related concussions, illegal immigration (and the jobs many of these ostensibly unwelcome folks are obliged to do), homelessness, and the inability of men to honestly connect or communicate.

Far from excusing or exonerating toxic males, this collection locates their violence (toward others, against oneself) in the context of a deadening culture and the false narratives that prevail in an exploitative, zero-sum game capitalist model, where those without are encouraged to quarrel with similarly overworked and underpaid, mostly blue-collar workers. We see that our received notions of manhood and masculinity are inculcated-from the beginning and by design-to ensure willing participation in a system where the overwhelming majority are excluded from the start. We witness the way these dysfunctions are handed down like inheritance, and how every cliché, from fighting to drinking to intolerance of dissent and distrust of others, is a carefully constructed trap, preventing solidarity, empathy, and love (for others, for one's self).

Think you know your Australian history? Think again.

Balagaan has defeated Dangan, wed his childhood sweetheart and has two beautiful children; so why does he feel so anxious?

When the Nyangbal people discover the Yirraalii, the Newcomers, on their land, they take no chances and hastily move camp. The Yirraalii have a reputation for being dangerous and brutal.

While the Nyangbal people watch the Yirraalii from the safety of the bush, Dangan’s wife stumbles into their camp and recounts a brutal Yirraalii attack on her husband’s clan. She pleads for help. Balagaan and his cousins, Yirinyin and Irindilli, are sent to investigate. Unable to find survivors, they quickly discover the Newcomers are using ‘Native Police’ to murder and capture other Aboriginal people.

Balagaan and the Nyangbal people flee to a secret campsite, deep in the forest. But are they really safe? Balagaan must consult the Clever Man. While he journeys far from home, he is unaware his mortal enemy, Dangan, is leading the Native Police straight to his family’s hiding place.

Can Balagaan return in time to save his wife and children, or will his enemy finally get his revenge?

Savages is a Truth Telling of the shameful frontier conflict history of Ballina that occurred due to the British colonisation of Australia. It is a story that was duplicated across the country in the 1800s. If you like historical romance, Aboriginal history, and plenty of action, then you’ll love this gripping historical novel from Steve Trotter.

‘It conveys an important message and ought to be compulsory reading in every Australian High School.’ —Marianne Vincent, Goodreads.

I think it's fair to say the idea of writing the book came by sheer accident.

The foundations were laid, when my wife had vocalised an issue she had with me, leaving dirty laundry on the bedroom floor. Not much I could do at this point but bow my head in shame, whilst she delivered an ear bashing.

Then feeling somewhat deflated, I found myself needing a little victory, it was at this point, I decided to post our converse on social media. Of course, I twisted the truth and used humour as a tactic, not just to get victory, but hoped it would make her and others laugh, and it did just that.

This opened a door, and over the next six days menopausal madness was a catalyst for comedic value. We had so much positive feedback, I had my arm bent to turn these 7 days into the book it is today. Like our marriage, it's a blueprint of chaos and laughter!

As a toddler I was fascinated by animals. I loved them all. I lived on a farm.

I was lucky in that I found schoolwork easy, and I obtained good results. I was a good athlete and made friends easily. I managed to get a place at Bristol University to study veterinary science. Then my troubles started. I could only get jobs to work with pets, but I wanted to work with all animals.

With a considerable amount of luck, I got a position in the Highlands of Kenya, just before independence, to work as a sole practitioner and be my own boss. A wonderful life opened up ahead of me.

A Beltane spell reveals a prophecy that will change their lives.

Laurel Bay is the third of five witchy sisters living a sweet life on Star Island; she runs a tarot reading business, depends on her sisters to pay her bills, and spends her free time jumping into the Hedge World, a realm few witches can access. But when a great love from a past life comes to her, Laurel is blinded by her need to find him-she throws all caution to the wind and ends up stalked by a vengeful witch she can't remember.

Owen Davies is stuck. His powers as a son of a witch are minimal, he's surrounded by morally gray water witches, and he's aching to find his soulmate—so much so that he has a storage unit full of furniture he's built for the mystery woman. Then a fateful vacation lands him in Laurel's garden and their paths are finally intertwined. With witches after Laurel's powers and buried secrets unearthed, circumstances begin to mirror their heartbreaking past life.

But this time around, Laurel and Owen refuse to be separated—not by time, not by a witch, not by death.

Nora Shrapsan is literally writing the book on London, and she's not going to let fantasies about her sexy British ex-boyfriend break her stride. So what if she has been reunited with semi-famous rock star Hugh Jeffries, and their chemistry is still palpable? He's engaged, and Nora needs to focus on anything besides Hugh's lips.

When a desperate Nora begs him to help her navigate London, Julian has to say yes—strictly to keep her from getting fired, of course. Surely, they can go to murder tours, magic shows, and museums without any feelings getting in the way. No problem.

But the more time Nora and Julian spend together, the less Nora finds herself thinking of Hugh. Maybe her second-chance romance didn't go according to plan, but that doesn't mean Nora could ever fall for her ex's best friend, right?

An informative and accessible guide to understanding childhood grief at every age, this empathetic and thoughtful guide will help caretakers to support children mourning after loss.

From Dr. Corinne Masur, an award-winning clinical psychologist specializing in grief and mourning, comes a necessary and impactful guide to understanding children's grief from the inside and to guiding children through loss, from the death of a parent and other family members, to the loss of friends, pets, and even the family home. Dr. Masur describes how to understand, help, and guide children at each age and stage of development and uses her own childhood experience with loss through empathetic yet clinically informed advice in this important guide.

When Dr. Masur was fourteen years old, her father died. Like most children and teens facing loss, Masur didn't know how to handle her grief, and she was never encouraged to acknowledge or share what she was feeling with her family, teachers, or friends. Her experience of shock and emotional paralysis around her loss is what led her to become an expert in childhood grief in order to help grieving children and to help others to support the children in their lives who have experienced loss. As a psychologist and child psychoanalyst, Dr. Masur has helped many children recognize and express their feelings after loss.

In How Children Grieve, Masur shares her expertise with caregivers of all kinds, giving them the tools they need to help a child or teenager mourn, move forward, and make meaning of terrible loss.

The Rogue Scholar: The Road to Victory was written back in 2010.

It describes a world where three characters have learned to cope with their world where a scientific breakthrough has birthed something called the holonosphere. This discovery has made civilization have difficulty in knowing what is real and what is a created illusion. Necessarily, it has also affected their religions as a mysterious group of people known as Shapers are charged with imposing some manner of order on what would otherwise be absolute chaos. The three characters are a product of their time and era and have their own opinions and survival strategies. A shadowy character called The Rogue, however, seems to complicate and upend all their lives. The payoff, however, is the journey of a lifetime and the chance to affect the holonosphere for good.

If you enjoy cypherpunk literature with an emphasis on the philosophical, this work will delight and entertain you. It might also teach you something about yourself…

For readers of Crying in H Mart and Minor Feelings as well as lovers of the film Minari comes a searing coming-of-age memoir about the daughter of ambitious Asian American immigrants and her search for self-worth.

A daughter of Korean immigrants, Hyeseung Song spends her earliest years in the cane fields of Texas where her loyalties are divided between a restless father in search of Big Money, and a beautiful yet domineering mother whose resentments about her own life compromises her relationship with her daughter. With her parents at constant odds, Song learns more words in Korean for hatred than for love. When the family's fake Gucci business lands them in bankruptcy, Song moves to a new elementary school. On her first day, a girl asks the teacher: "Can she speak English?" Neither rich nor white, Song does what is necessary to be visible: she internalizes the model minority myth as well as her beloved mother's dreams to see her on a secure path.

Song meets these expectations by attending the best Ivy League universities in the country. But when she wavers, in search of an artistic life on her own terms, her mother warns, "Happiness is what unexceptional people tell themselves when they don't have the talent and drive to go after real success." Years of self-erasure take a toll and Song experiences recurring episodes of depression and mania. A thought repeats: I want to die. I want to die. Song enters a psychiatric hospital where she meets patients with similar struggles. So begins her sweeping journey to heal herself by losing everything.

Unflinching and lyrical, Docile is one woman's story of subverting the model minority myth, contending with mental illness, and finding her self-worth by looking within.

Journey into Appalachia's Heart: Love, Loss, and the Resilience of a Forgotten Land.

Discover the captivating allure of the Appalachian region as Jeffrey Dunn skillfully weaves a tale of love, loss, and redemption in his exquisitely crafted literary fiction masterpiece, Wildcat: An Appalachian Romance. Immerse yourself in the depths of the rust belt's rugged landscapes, where the echoes of industrial disaster intertwine with the sublime beauty of nature, all while the characters navigate the delicate dance between past and future.

In this poignant narrative, our protagonist, a retired English teacher, returns to his roots, lured back to the once-shuttered Hotel Wildcat, now revitalized as a collective endeavor. As he ventures through this transformed community, a new world unfolds before his eyes. The former mine, once a symbol of tragedy, now thrives as a flourishing mushroom farm. The dairy emerges as a purveyor of wholesome organic milk products, while the mill stands as a vibrant hub for sustainable and artisanal creations.

Yet amidst this promising rebirth, Wildcat's ominous history remains inescapable-the haunting era of explosions and closures. Similarly, our protagonist's own dark past resurfaces, entwined with memories of his working-class girlfriend, an indomitable spirit adorned in the trappings of a resilient hippie chic. As he embarks on the ambitious endeavor of penning his memoir-an intimate chronicle you now hold in your hands-he captures both the triumphs and tragedies of those who grappled with the devastating changes that swept through their lives.

Within these pages, Dunn employs prose that dances on the reader's imagination, evoking a sense of timelessness and historical resonance. Wildcat: An Appalachian Romance breathes life into Appalachia while exploring themes of the redemptive potential of rediscovered friendship, the restorative power of nature, and the boundless capacity for transformation.

When she was twenty-four years old, Ellen Anderson Penno lost her partner in a climbing accident while they were ascending Mount Baker in Washington's Cascade Range.

The avalanche hid his body in a crevasse just weeks before Anderson Penno was slated to begin medical school, and she soon found herself torn between deferring her studies for a year, or starting right away with a full course load.

Rather than succumbing to grief and risk never beginning her medical education at all, she plunged deep into her studies, surrounded by death on all sides, struggling to maintain her way through her turbulent emotions and a rigorous med school schedule.

In this stirring and often mordantly funny new memoir, Ellen Anderson Penno structures a story of mourning, loss, despair and love through the lens of the classic medical text Gray's Anatomy, showing readers what becomes of those who must rebuild their lives after tragedy strikes.

Series: Fluffle Bunnies (1)

For fans of The Bad Guys series, this is the origin story of the terrifying group known as The Fluffle: three bad-bunny kingpins. A brand-new graphic novel chapter book series for ages 6 to 9.

This story starts, as stories often do, with a tragedy. Three bunnies are left without their mother when she goes off to Brazil to learn jiujitsu. The bunnies, Flop, Biggie and Boingie, learn some hard truths about life pretty quick: squirrels will take over your cosy nest as soon as you leave and refuse to give it back, dogs are to be avoided at all costs and raccoons will believe anything you tell them. With quick thinking, ingenuity and maybe a little bit of raccoon manipulation, these three buns will take on all comers to be the rulers of the park.

Will they win? Well, this IS an origin story...

After inadvertently starting rumors of a haunted cemetery, a teen befriends a ghost in this young adult novel exploring grief and belonging by the critically acclaimed and bestselling author of The Marrow Thieves series, now available in paperback.

Winifred has lived in the apartment above the cemetery office with her father, who works in the crematorium, all her life, close to her mother's grave. With her sixteenth birthday only days away, Winifred has settled into a lazy summer schedule, lugging her obese Chihuahua around the grounds in a squeaky red wagon to visit the neglected gravesides and nursing a serious crush on her best friend, Jack. Her habit of wandering the graveyard at all hours has started a rumor that Winterson Cemetery might be haunted. It's welcome news since the crematorium is on the verge of closure and her father's job is being outsourced.

Now that the ghost tours have started, Winifred just might be able to save her father's job and the only home she's ever known, not to mention being able to stay close to where her mother is buried. All she has to do is get help from her con-artist cousin to keep up the ruse and somehow manage to stop her father from believing his wife has returned from the grave. But when Phil, an actual ghost of a teen girl who lived and died in the ravine next to the cemetery, starts showing up, Winifred begins to question everything she believes about life, love and death. Especially love.

Avani is having a wonderful time looking at all of her mother's saris, but she soon realizes she's made a big mess. When her mom comes in, Avani expects a scolding, but instead, her mom sits down with her and tells her about the memories associated with each sari: memories of weddings and celebrations, memories of when and where the sari came from. And, in case of one very special sari, memories that were passed down from her parents and grandparents.

A beautiful and vibrant reflection on how what we wear connects us to big and small moments in our lives, Once Upon a Sari is a colorful feast for the eyes and the heart.

A visit to Leo's grandfather's farm turns upside down when his grandmother's beehives are stolen. A light-hearted and funny middle-grade novel for fans of Rebecca Stead and Lynda Mullaly Hunt.

Eleven-year-old Leo is an "armchair adventurer." This, according to Dad, means he'd choose adventures in books or video games over real-life experiences. And while Leo hates the label, he can't argue with it. Unlike his little sister Lizzie, Leo is not a risk-taker.   So when he, Lizzie, Mom and Dad leave the city to visit Grandpa on Heron Island, Leo finds all kinds of dangers to avoid — from the deep, dark ocean to an old barn on the verge of collapse. But nothing on the island is more fearsome than Grandpa himself — Leo has never met anyone so grumpy!

According to Mom, Grandpa is still grieving the recent death of his wife, a beekeeper beloved by everyone on the island. Despite Leo's best efforts to avoid it, adventure finds him anyway when Grandma's beehives go missing in the dead of night. Infuriated, Grandpa vows to track down the sticky-fingered thieves himself...  with risk-averse Leo and danger-loving Lizzie (plus a kitten named Mayhem) in tow.

Buckle up, true crime junkies! This box set isn't your grandma’s mystery collection. Prepare to dive headfirst into 84 gripping true crime stories that span a wild ride through seven decades of mayhem and murder.

From the roaring '20s to the grunge-filled '90s, this is your ticket to a crime tour that’s more thrilling than a rollercoaster at a haunted amusement park.

Some of these cases might ring a bell, while others will be fresh horrors you’ve never encountered. And get this—some mysteries are still as cold as a killer's heart. This collection is like hopping into a time machine, if that time machine stopped at every dark alley and shadow-filled room where history’s most chilling crimes unfolded.

As you flip through the pages, you'll meet two types of villains. There are the ones who could be your next-door neighbors, hiding their sinister deeds behind a veneer of normalcy. And then there are the ones who are unapologetically monstrous—what you see is definitely what you get.

Seven decades of crime and still, the debate rages on—are killers born, or are they made? As you explore the depths of human nature across these stories, see where you land on this eternal question.

India’s Road to Transformation: Why Leadership Matters describes the critical role of political leadership in India which began post-independence until this present age.

Since India’s independence from Britain in 1947, it has been governed by 14 prime ministers, some of whom contributed immensely to its socio-economic development than others. The book shows how using Mahatma Gandhi’s unifying philosophy to rally all Indian people together, great prime ministers such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Manmohan Singh, and now Narendra Modi have channeled their energy, power, and political influence to significantly improve the livelihood of the Indian people through their economic and social transformative agendas.

India’s Road to Transformation: Why Leadership Matters is not your typical history book about India; it is a well-researched and neatly documented role of leadership for India’s development, joining the historical dots of socio-economic successes achieved by each predominant Indian government since 1947.

By reading this well-prepared book, you will discover:

  • The historical values and structures of India and how they changed over time due to varying political processes and internal strife.
  • India’s diversification of its economic activities from an agrarian community to a merchant/trade society and now to a technologically advanced, modern country.
  • The transformative actions/steps taken by some prominent Indian leaders, from Nehru to Modi, learning how their timely and effective socio-economic programs saved India from collapsing.
  • Some comparative economic yardsticks between India, China, Japan, and the Southeast Asian nations.
  • Important suggestions from the authors of this book about how India can sustain its current growth rate and eventually become a superpower such as the US and China.

Song of Myself: A Gay Man's Odyssey of Self-Discovery is the story of Daniel Dell Blake, a gay man navigating his way through a tumultuous twentieth-century America.

His rites of passage, including embracing his identity, garnering self-respect, and living with irrepressible creativity, will resonate for readers confronting today's culture wars. Daniel’s struggles against societal norms, infused with wit, celebrate human resilience while offering historical insight, punctuated throughout by quotes from Walt Whitman, whose life and writings serve as a touchstone—to the narrator and to the reader—a testament to how truth and pride, and even humble efforts in the midst of monumental events become (in Whitman’s words) “the journey-work of the stars.”

Review:

"Arnie Kantrowitz, who wrote the finest memoir of the early gay liberation movement, Under the Rainbow, has given us in Song of Myself a thoroughly delightful picaresque novel. He presents us with Daniel Dell Blake, a gay boy raised in an apple orchard, who travels to New York City to hobnob with the bohemian elite, lands in a Japanese prison camp during World War II, marries, separates, briefly attends college as a kept boy, works cleaning up in a bordello, is sent to prison on sodomy charges, assists an antiques dealer—episode after episode in classic picaresque style, including à la Tom Jones, the possibility of incest. In so doing the innocent becomes a rascal who never loses his moral or aesthetic sense. On the way we meet dozens of fascinating characters—Chester, the sculptor; Willard, the professor; Edwin, the antiques dealer; Gordon, the doctor; Louie, the hairdresser and prison mate—in travels that take us coast to coast and from the 1930s through the 1990s. Beautifully counterpointed against this tale is Dell’s obsession with Walt Whitman, which brilliantly informs the action. Song of Myself could well have been granted another Whitman title, “Song of the Open Road,” because of its openness of spirit and of form. —David Bergman, Professor Emeritus, Towson University, author of The Violet Hour: The Violet Quill and The Making of Gay Culture.

"Though it be written in a hundred pages, my story is large enough to encompass worlds apart, destinies entwined, a mystical friendship, and the disquieting secret that binds them all, locked away in the heart of humanity by the artificers of hope, faith, and morality. Fate calls you to lend an ear, and by the end of the wondrous tale, She will demand that you choose whether to enter the same covenant by which I am bound. As for a beginning, if we truly can speak of one in timelessness, I'd say it happened the day I met Aristakes, an otherworldly youth in search of the stone of Dionysus…"

Step now into the narrative and embark on your own quest to transcend this world we call reality. Every page holds a piece of the puzzle, every chapter a revelation.

While you are in the dark, you scurry about like a measly creature of the dark. When the light of dawn shines on you, what will you do?

"An inventive novel about wishes and regret." — Kirkus Reviews

Tildy Sullivan is the middle child in an elite yet fading Manhattan family. Her quiet practicality hides her deep, profound longing for childhood summers in western Ireland. She also carries a secret regret. Eight years ago, after her mother's death, she was persuaded to abandon Ireland and the love of a local boy. She now believes happiness is lost to her.

When she volunteers for a lucid dreaming experiment, she thinks she can have all she wants - a life lived for her family during the day and a secret Ireland of her own at night. But she must choose - will she face reality, or succumb to the ease of her dreams?

The States is a reimagining of Jane Austen's Persuasion - a story of love, obligation, and second chances.

This past year, Collin Winters has tried to put the events of Chateau Du Coeur behind him. He’s struggling to move on with his life. It’s a new year, in a new school, in a new city, and with a new heart beating in his chest.

Shortly after his first term at the Art Institution in London, Collin is selected by the headmaster to partake in a class field-trip to New York City where he, and four other students, will check-in to an old hotel. Amongst those students is Collin’s roommate—Aaron, who is trying to put his own past behind him. The two boys don’t always get along. One moment they’re the best of friends, the next they’re rolling around the hotel’s lobby throwing punches and nearly getting themselves expelled. The boys’ friendship only strengthens as they attempt to unearth the hotel’s dark secret. It turns out, the building isn’t quite what it seems to be. There’s something lurking in the hotel’s shadows…something watching the classmates from afar.

While Collin and his friends attempt to solve the mystery of the Langham Hotel, Collin starts to remember that he might have stayed in the building once before. The past is about to catch up to Collin Winters and will surely put his sanity to the test.

The Lumberjack Leprechauns Have A Difficult Choice.

W.T. Kosmos, author of the award-winning Blaze Union and the Puddin' Head Schools, presents a comedy for teens and adults, with six or more actors, minimal props, and a satirical exploration of unsustainable lifestyles and unwavering loyalty to authoritarian leaders.

For generations, the loyal Lumberjack Leprechauns have followed their king’s orders to find the great pot o’ gold buried underneath trees. But when President Leafhopper, an ally of the dreaded Tree Huggers, wins the first democratic election and enforces deforestation regulations, their world is turned upside down. With their leader Stumpsharp captured after a disastrous attempt to storm the castle, Axestorm, Chopwit, and Sawdunce devise an ingenious method for finding their next leader: a costume contest in the North Woods. But when this momentous event takes a surprising turn as eccentric contestants show up, the Lumberjack Leprechauns face their greatest challenge yet. Will they find The Golden One to restore the monarchy? Or will a lively audience persuade them to choose a leader as surprising as the epiphany that stilts and climbing castle walls don’t mix?

Walk and Talk with God All the Time

Go on a journey with me to discover the possibility of heaven having no Bibles and, if that is true, how that could have a life-changing impact on your relationship with God now. You can have just as close a personal relationship with God here on earth as you will in heaven, where you can walk and talk with the Father any time you want.

Some benefits of reading this book:

  • Know that God has so much more to tell you and how to access His vast, unsearchable wisdom.
  • Discover the three most significant deceptions from the enemy that have limited your relationship with God and sharing with others.
  • Learn how to hear God’s voice clearly and have Father Encounters with your friends every week.

Explore God’s relationships with His children in heaven and throughout history, which dramatically changed starting in the fourth century, profoundly impacting how we commune with the heavenly Father today.

This book is not against the Bible, for the Bible is God’s words and instruction to His children in times past that transcend time. However, there have been incorrect interpretations of the Bible that keep you from having a fuller relationship with the One who wrote it.

Come on this journey with me where heaven can come to you on earth so that you can have great conversations with the Father anytime you like and experience the unlimited riches of God’s kingdom every day. You can walk hand-in-hand with God in His great adventure, exploring the unimaginable wonders of heaven the Father is waiting to show you.

Co-Parenting With a Narcissist is a thorough examination of narcissism, with a particular emphasis on its effects on relationships and parenting.

The author aims to provide a detailed explanation of narcissism as well as practical guidance for people dealing with narcissists, particularly in the difficult scenario of co-parenting.

The book seeks to provide coping tactics, effective communication tips, legal counsel, and emotional support to those afflicted by narcissistic relationships.

The book is divided into three major sections, each covering a distinct element of dealing with narcissistic people, particularly in the context of co-parenting.

Part I: An Introduction to Narcissism

This section begins with a detailed explanation of narcissism, as well as an outline of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). It addresses the basic characteristics of narcissism and identifies many types of NPD and their associated behaviors. It also looks at how narcissism affects health, particularly its prevalence and comorbidity, and proposes the concept of 'narcissistic supply.’

Part II: Let's Start with Practice

This practical section discusses the difficulties of co-parenting with a narcissist. It discusses coping with the stress and anxiety of such relationships, managing children's stress and anxiety, and practical strategies for starting co-parenting with a narcissist. This includes accepting reality, establishing boundaries, communicating effectively, and dealing with a narcissistic ex-partner. It provides advise on how to build structured communication, defend against abuse, and employ mediation techniques.

Part III: Key Resources

Spring had definitely arrived in the woodland, thick beautiful carpets of Bluebell flowers stretch as far as you could see under the trees, baby animals were being born, including an over adventurous chick who tries to fly and lands himself in trouble.

The little Hedgehog is always there to help (although no one can help him from feeling lonely) and finds a mystery to solve in the woodland as well.

Reviewed by Constance Stadler for Readers' Favorite:

"The Tale of the Little Lonely Hedgehog (Tales from the Bluebell Woods) begins on a note of happiness and a bit of anticipation on a beautiful spring day when Hedgehog decides it is time for a walk. As he begins his forest rambles, there is something unusual about this day. Along the way, friends such as Badger want to know why he hadn't said hello when he came by before. This query was somewhat confusing, as Hedgehog had not passed by his friend that day. However, there was much to see as he strolled down the familiar path. The abundance of children among his many friends created a sense of longing for a family of his own. As author Ian Humpheryes develops this character, Hedgehog proves himself a caring friend when a baby bird is in need. When he sees footprints that match his own, he is initially puzzled, but by the end of the tale, there are answers to all his questions.

The story centers on a theme in many children's books but is rarely the primary focus: how having a family can make the world joyously different. It also underscores that going out of your way to help others matters and having a giving nature makes you feel better about yourself. The gentle quality of the writing is one of the book's strengths, and the accompanying illustrations complement this tone. A curious child will gain much by reading Ian Humpheryes' creative and thoughtful book, such as considering aspects of their life that they likely haven’t appreciated as much as they should. The Tale of the Little Lonely Hedgehog will help the young reader learn invaluable life lessons while being wonderfully immersed in this enchanting tale."

Hunting a Cat in Dogtown, the third book in The Serial Killer Anthology, is the exciting sequel to the popular Killer Dead, Victim Alive.

It picks up where the unexpected twists and turns of the first book’s cliffhanger ending left off: with a startling surprise at Santa Monica Police Lieutenant Greg Nichols' front door. Similar shocks greet others who were involved in investigating Chrissy Weeks' potential involvement in the earlier execution of Killer Dead, Victim Alive serial killer Keith Victor.

The deliveries are messages, and may even be threats. But Weeks is in custody. So how could she have managed?

And then Weeks’ jail experience takes an unexpected and difficult-to-comprehend turn, and a well-known screenwriter is found dead on the beach near the Santa Monica Pier – close to where Victor was left just weeks earlier. He’s been shot in the forehead, just like Victor was.

Both situations quickly escalate, and the Santa Monica Police, the FBI, and the Los Angeles Police Department face a new – and eerily similar – case even as their experience with Weeks again defies explanations.

Nichols and his partner, Sergeant Mollie Granger, find themselves dealing with mounting homicides, as well as multiple mysteries that jump from the Dogtown area of Santa Monica and Venice, to Hollywood’s entertainment industry, to the Mexican border – and back.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Or do they?

When the brutal husband she believed dead returns from the Crusades, the Lady of Mirefoix turns to murder and magic to protect her people.

But the spells she invokes to restore dying loved ones to life do not work as intended; instead, they bring souls from distant lands and different centuries, with special gifts and diverse points of view. When war comes, the summoned souls flee to pursue their destinies, leaving the Lady alone to face the invaders—and to question whether she can be redeemed from her sins.

This multicultural historical fantasy is set in 13th-century Occitanie (southern France) during the war against the Cathar heresy.

A collection of 15 politically engaged short stories, encapsulating a hundred years of conflict in Palestine.

No other work on Palestine or Zionism, be it an essay, a film or a piece of fiction will give you so sensitive and searing a glimpse into what the conflict in that part of the world is all about. This collection of short stories is a courageous throwback to an age when literature was a branch of history or history a branch of literature. One hundred years of struggle are transformed into real-life characters that breathe, argue, give birth or die, in the span of just over one hundred pages.

The name used for the collection was inspired by the British mandate museum inaugurated in 1939, The Palestine Museum of Archeology. One of the stories outlines the political, social and artistic context in which the museum came into existence.

While the stories are based on true historical events, they remain a work of fiction.

Karnest is not a wizard nor an adventurer and he definitely isn’t a wise old mentor, and yet he finds himself leading a party of troublemakers on an adventure that could prevent an imperial war.

Karnest was just a farmer who wanted nothing more than to have a bountiful harvest for once, but a monstrous swarm of locust comes out of nowhere and wreaks havoc on his farm. This might be bad enough, but the adventures who burned his farm to the ground in order to destroy the swarm leaves him with nothing. There is little chance that he will ever see compensation from the organization that technically saved him from a monster, so Karnest devises a plan to impersonate a wizard that inexplicably dies in front of him. The wizard has been summoned to lead a group of adventurers on a mission of utmost importance and has been offered a fortune in gold just for showing up.

All Karnest has to do is pretend to be a wizard long enough to get the gold and disappear. How hard could it be? He looks the part after all. All he needs to do is get the robes off of a corpse and dispose of the body in order to keep the guild from realizing what really happened. Easy right.

It's genre fiction, that's for sure. What genre? Well, that's a different question.

Nothing Short of Odd is a collection of short stories and flash fiction, an unlikely patchwork in which light and dark share the pages and what is everyday reality stands next to what is not.

Sixteen stories. Different themes. A potpourri of pieces that made their way out of the slush pile of unsolicited submissions and were selected for publication in literary webzines.

This book is dedicated to those who believed in these stories and gave them a chance.

“An enthralling read for anyone who loves peculiar and unexpected narratives.” ― Doreen Chombu, Readers' Favorite

“An unconventional collection that serves as fuel to imagination’s fire.” ― Nicky Flowers, Indies Today

Series: The Wastelander (1)

The Old World is dead. Alone and starving, her only salvation is him.

Born in a secure compound amidst the ashes of a world long dead, Claire Ainsley knows her place in the world: work her assigned job, live with her assigned husband, and keep her head down and her mouth shut. She knows what every compound resident has been told: the world outside is a Wasteland, and the only thing more terrifying than leaving the compound is being forced to confront those who live outside—the ones left behind.

But her safe, contained life is destroyed when she narrowly survives an attack conceived by a conspiracy from within the compound itself. Only by fleeing into the terrifying Wasteland, a vast wilderness peopled by bloodthirsty, cannibalistic Wastelanders, can she escape a violent end at the hands of her fellow compound dwellers.

Captured by the very savages she feared, she is saved by John Madigan, a mysterious and capable survivor—and a Wastelander. She tries to deny the instant chemistry she feels with a man that is one moment terrifying, the next patient and caring, but eventually, neither of them are able to resist the blazing passion between them. But the Wasteland is harsh, and her time with John fleeting. As his own personal mission comes to an end, he must return to his ancestral homeland, leaving her with little choice but to learn to survive without the man whose protection is her only salvation in a harsh, uncompromising post-apocalyptic landscape.

The Wasteland of this world has not been kind to those unchosen.

The Wastelander is the first book in a post-apocalyptic romance series that follows John Madigan and Claire Ainsley as they navigate a dangerous world where lessons are brutally learned and love is challenged by hidden threats, political conspiracy, and the daily grind of survival.

After disaster strikes, a Louisiana family and their community need to prove to each other and the world that their bond is thicker than the oil threatening their shores in Sharon J. Wishnow's stunning debut novel.

It's taken Chef Josie Babineaux six months to reconcile the debts left from her husband Brian's gambling along with her broken heart. But now with a promising tourist season heating up and a travel magazine declaring her the spice queen of the bayou, she may be able to save her family's historic Cajun restaurant. Repairing her relationship with her daughter, Minnow, while hiding the true reason she left her husband is a bigger issue.

Just as the first tourists arrive, an explosion on an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico shatters their fragile plans. With her island community at the epicenter of the oil spill, everything is endangered, including the restaurant's beloved mascot—a brown pelican dear to the family's heart.

Josie realizes her family needs more than financial recovery. Only reconciling her past and revealing the truth can clean up the guilt and hurt pooling under the surface. And maybe, with enough honesty, this family can find renewal.

When I wrote the original version of Pilots Dawn in the last decade of the previous century, the world was a different place.

Three manufacturers of passenger aircraft existed in the United States. Boeing dominated the global market for airliners without serious competition. Airbus, whose share of sales fell short of 20%, was considered by many experts a challenger doomed to failure—if not an outright joke.

Politically, the Soviet Union had ceased to exist. The Cold War was over; the KGB had receded into history and expectations of a peaceful democratic Russia were the norm.

My fictional story about the sabotage of Boeing jets dealt with Western corporate and political machinations. Although a former KGB agent played a role in the success of a sinister operation, Russia was not involved. Indeed, such an attack at the time would have been unthinkable.

By 2024, East-West tensions reminiscent of the Cold War had resurfaced. It became not only imaginable but likely that Russia would attempt to further its expansionist activities in Ukraine and beyond by crippling the economy of her major rival. With PILOTS DAWN I had unwittingly provided enemies of the West with a roadmap for sabotaging American aircraft.

Plot of the original Pilots Dawn:

Walter Claussen, a KGB agent, becomes a capitalist after the collapse of the Soviet Union. He alone controls a weapon of mass destruction that he sells to the highest bidder. American passenger jets undergo a series of deadly mishaps that seem unrelated.

Frank Warner, meticulous head of air crash investigations at the NTSB, is unable to find the cause. The death toll mounts; the public experiences a collective fear of flying that threatens to cripple the nation.

Meantime in Paris Sophie Marx, retired Bureau Chief of the New York Times, begins work on a book about the life of France’s leading right-wing politician, Georges Michelet. At age 70, she is unable to do the legwork herself. Sophie solicits the help of her young American neighbor, the devastatingly handsome ne’er do well named Steven Le Conte, and sends him to the Riviera.

Steven is instructed to follow the guiding light of his “golden schwanz.” If he can manage to seduce Michelet’s daughter, Nicole, a sexy naïve teen vacationing on the Mediterranean, he might learn something beyond the reach of his boss.

Steven does not disappoint.

"A burden on my loved ones and on society, that's all I am. I guess that makes me no better than a disease. How Ironic," Preston thinks as he stares through a rain-drop speckled window.

Just as ferociously as multiple sclerosis attacks his body, all-consuming guilt and depression disease his mind, making his mood as dreary as the windy weather. Everything changes when this storm triggers a series of events that throws his life into a crazy whirlwind of adventure, mystery and intrigue as he finds himself stumbling into another dimension - the strange medieval-like world of Oswella.

Here, Preston is mistaken for a military commander and must learn to navigate the complexities of warfare while desperately concealing his identity — if he is to stay alive, that is. Along the way, three additional characters set out on their own quests for - power, vengeance, and enlightenment. As their paths intertwine, they quickly discover not everything is as it seems. As the conflict unfolds around them, dark forces lurk in the shadows, putting everything they know and love in grave danger.

The Respian Man, the first book of the Kingdom of the Infinity Realm series, immerses you in Oswella's mysteries with educational footnotes that enhance the journey with real historical context. Written with Christian undertones, the story explores some of life's most difficult questions and challenges you to think about how history, philosophy, religion, and science contribute to how we see the universe around us. The book masterfully combines an epic fantasy adventure and profound concepts into a story that is not only wildly entertaining, but also nourishes the mind and soul.

A prince and an orphaned farm girl are an unlikely pair in this enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance

Anyone who sees Ro would assume she was just a poor farm girl — that is, if they even noticed her at all. But Ro's psychic powers have caught the eye of a nearby kingdom and its young, unmarried ruler, the Prince Corrado. Corrado is as reluctant to marry a stranger as Ro is, especially one so beneath him in class and education. But if he wants to keep his kingdom, he needs to produce an heir — and ideally one who can inherit his psychic powers.

It's spite at first sight when the two meet on their wedding day. Ro hates the Prince's arrogance and coldness. Corrado can't stand the Princess's sarcastic comments and untrained manners. So why can't they stop thinking about each other? And how are they ever going to get along enough to make a baby?

***

“Stop staring at me.” The Prince hissed, frustrated.

“What am I supposed to look at?” His Princess said, equal frustration in her voice.

“Just — close your eyes.” He bent and gave her a quick peck on the mouth. Princess Ro seemed surprised, her eyes widened. “Seriously. I can’t … do this. With you staring at me like that.”

Ro did as she was told, and the Prince bent his mouth back over hers and offered a gentle, if mechanical, kiss. This time she did not flinch, but forced herself to do what she wanted — which was to relax fully into him. To feel his strength against her. Her hand, pressed against his face, sent jolts of electricity through his entire body. He tried to concentrate just on her mouth, how soft and sweet it felt, but his mind was screaming at him.

Gentle, Corrado. Don’t frighten her, you stupid brute.

To silence the shouting, he opened his mouth slightly and felt her little tongue press against his lips.

Good god. He opened his mouth wider, letting his tongue unspool into her own. He cupped her face, waiting for her to flinch at his touch, but she didn’t. Instead she fluttered her tongue deeper into his mouth, winding her arms around his neck.

Her taste. So fresh, like the earth after a rainstorm. He did not realize how badly he had wanted this, how desperate he had been to feel her against him like this. Her hands shifted in between their bodies, and at first he thought she was pushing him off of her. How careless he could be, unaware of the enormous size difference between them.

But she wasn’t pushing him away. She was unbuttoning the front of her robe.

And she wasn’t taking his hand from her face to shove him off of her.

She was taking his hand in order to guide him up the curve of her soft, lush body.

It was working. He thought. Perhaps she didn’t entirely hate him.

Jane Austen meets The Jungle Book during a colonial rebellion.

Jundi is a land of mystery and wonder. Deep in the jungle, legends of the White Tiger swirl. Some say he is a beast who rules the other animals. Others claim he symbolizes the rebels who refuse to come under colonial rule.

Gillian has lived in a colonial villa on the edge of the jungle her entire life. She has never known another home beyond the land of Jundi. When her mother decides to leave because of the stirring rebellion, Gillian will return through the only means that she can find, marriage to an officer in the military.

Max, burned by love in the past, will only consider marriage if it enhances his military career. When the old colonel’s daughter shows interest, he will gladly secure Gillian as a means to further his chance of promotion. But he doesn’t expect his heart to become entangled with his ambition.

Gillian seals her future in Jundi, but even that will not be enough to answer the call of the White Tiger within the jungle’s beating heart.

Will Gillian’s and Max’s paths align, or will the rebellion tear their lives apart?

What is the last place people expect to be haunted? Probably their refrigerator.

The Tomasons jokingly blame a ghost when things disappear in their untidy fridge. Little do they know, there actually is a cute, but frustrated, small ghost trapped inside because of that growing mess.

The Refrigerator Ghost, written for ages 4-8, is an engaging tale that encourages families to compost their leftovers instead of letting them clutter their refrigerators. Children will be delighted by the tiny ghost's desire to escape outdoors, and will enjoy finding it hiding in the amusing illustrations.

Imagine your dearly departed relatives – now in the afterlife.

The after place is pleasant, to be sure, with mountain-fresh air, spanking clean streets, and no crime, no war, no Fox or CNN. But with only endless pleasantness – people inevitably get bored. So what do they do? They form clubs.

Written by Thomas Smith, with a nudge from afterlife commentator Mark Twain, The Afterlife Meddlers Club details the well-intentioned deeds of one such club. What we on earth call “karma” is, in fact, the result of ALMC members who meet to negotiate, make matches, and then affectionately meddle until the outcome is inevitable.

Following the efforts of two meddlers who try to bring their divorced grandchildren Katie and Tim together, while battling that pesky “free will” thing, The After Life Meddlers Club is filled with humor, offhand sarcasm that’s true to life, and insights about love, loss, longing, and loneliness. You may laugh out loud and you may shed a tear, but you’ll clearly be entertained as these meddlers ply their club’s trade in the service of their grown grandchildren, who are eagerly and sometimes hilariously seeking their true soulmates.

A supernatural journal. Two kids in over their heads. Can they lead a new Chicago police officer to success in the dangerous south side of the city?

Danielle and Noah’s curiosity gets the best of them when they find another magical diary about an officer’s second year in the country’s second-largest police force. While Dani comes to grips with being a minority female in a male-dominated profession, Noah joins the story as a phantom with unique magical abilities. They soon discover that their past trips have caused unforeseen historical consequences, including introducing an evil phantom with lethal powers.

They must now figure out how to return to the part of the story they interfered with and fix their mistakes. The kids seek help from the strange bookstore owner, but the spellbound solutions are risky and untested.

Can Noah master his newfound phantom powers to save the townspeople stuck in the books?

The Phantom Enforcer is the action-filled second book in the First Responder fantasy series. If you like adventurous kids, clever humor, and pages jam-packed with suspense, then you’ll love J.W. Jarvis’s blending of reality and enchantment.

Series: Frontier Hearts (3)

Pernilla’s marriage of thirty-four years to Lars has become a too-familiar routine of running her boarding house in Prosper, Alberta.

She loves Lars, but the spark is gone. Pernilla wants that spark to return, but Lars has turned inward, distance and quiet.

With a blizzard closing in and stopping the train from entering town, she and Lars venture out to bring her boarders back. She learns a fugitive was onboard the train and must figure out who they are before the storm finishes and they disappear into the mountains.

Lars wants nothing to do with finding the fugitive, preferring to let sleeping dogs lie.

Pernilla is determined to identify the fugitive, collect the reward money, and help the windows she’s taken into her care start a new life.

Pernilla risks everything to bring a criminal to justice.

Will this create a second chance for Pernilla’s marriage, or will it be the last thread that unravels everything?

***

Silver Hearts is a later-in-life, second-chance, trapped-in-a-room, sensual Western historical mystery romance. The book contains mild swearing and explicit sex. The author uses British spelling.

A fast-paced, high-kicking debut that's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon meets Stand Up, Yumi Chung as a young taekwondo artist uses an ancient book to help save her dreams—and her father.

Twelve-year-old Modesty "Mo" Seto dreams of being a taekwondo champion. Even though her mom disapproves, Mo can always count on her dad, who is her number one fan and biggest supporter. Lately, Mo has been on a losing streak, and it doesn't help that she keeps losing to her archnemesis, Dax, who's much bigger than her. If only she were faster, stronger, not so petite. Mo can't even lean on her dad like usual with how distracted he's been lately.

When Mo learns about the chance to audition to star alongside her idol and legendary martial artist and movie star Cody Kwok, she knows this her chance to prove to her dad, to the world, and to herself that she can compete with anyone, no matter her size. Unfortunately, Dax is auditioning, too. As Mo and her nemesis progress to callbacks, someone attempts to sabotage the movie set and Mo's dad disappears—and both events seem linked to a mysterious book, the Book of Joy.

The book contains information on a secret dance-like martial art developed by Mo's ancestral grandmother. Armed with these secret moves and an unexpected ally, Mo embarks on a high-octane adventure to rescue her father, save the movie, and discover an unexpected joy in being small.

Hi,

My name is MIND GAME Challenge, I warmly and proudly welcome you to the labyrinth of the mind, where the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary, and where the words that shape our world shake their capital 'S' to an enigmatic 'rytm.

Within my pages your challenge is to reveal the meaning of tons of thought-provoking quotations that have never EVER been told before (I know because my author made them all up himself)! They traverse the expansive landscapes of psychology, the intricacies of the mind, the dynamics of relationships, the mysteries of femininity, the complexities of masculinity, the wonders of science, the mightiness of God, the promises and threads of AI, the meaning of existence, the very depths of love... plus some sparks of me. :)

Each quotation is encapsulated in two ciphers - a concise treasure trove of wisdom and wonder. They always commence on my left side, seamlessly concluding on the "right" side of me, rendering every page a distinct entity with its own significance. Feel free to hop between my riddles at your leisure; if you find one challenging, skip it with confidence knowing that you'll tackle it later.

Because here's the twist: I'm not just a book to be read; I'm a puzzle to be unraveled. I offer you 13 unique puzzle variations (Weird Words, Filling Feeling, Vanished Vowels, Symbols' Symbiosis, Catastrophic Chaos, Silly Syllables, Crazy Crosswords, Math Myth, All-in, Chapter Master, Mirthsome Morse and Encore Encryption), making sure you will never get bored with my gameplay.

So your challenge is to solve my conundrums, decode the cryptic arrangements, and reveal the hidden truths. Some initial easy puzzles will yield to your intellect in a swift 10 seconds, while others may demand minutes, hours, days, or even weeks of contemplation, while my rewards might linger with you for a lifetime!

I'm a test of your wits and intellect, a challenge that will take you from a mere observer to an active participant in the exploration of wisdom. So turn the page, begin the quest, and let's play MIND GAME Challenge together! Our world is about to change, one word at a time, word for word, letter by letter, blaa-bla-blaaa-blaaaa...

P.S.: I won't mind ending up being overused in your toilette! :)

P.P.S.: I am the perfect gift you could ever give to someone who likes mind-bending puzzles and meaningful quotations.

LGBTQ+ people are under constant attack, especially by those who claim the mantle of Christ.

It's not popular or easy to be a Christian and a member of this marginalized community. On the right are conservatives who claim to speak for God and try to block the path of LGBTQ+ Christians. On the left are those who have been harmed by the church and balk in the face of their continued belief. LGBTQ+ Christians are left in the middle to try to reconcile a religion that appears to demonize them and a God who loves them unconditionally.

Jeza's Jesus Juice is a rare safe space for those who are committed to their faith but do not know where to go to deepen it. It is also a place for those searching for meaning in Christianity that does not negate their queer identity. This devotional provides personal stories, biblical apologetics, and damning indictments of today's evangelical movement, all served up frothy over ice by one of America's premier and unique drag talents.

There, a shocking secret plunges Simon into depression and drinking. As Susie struggles to find a way forward, she gains a new resilience, empathy, and understanding of faith and freedom.

You look exactly like your twin brother. Exactly.

You think like him, for him, with him, cannot live without him. Cannot. Don't want to. Don't want to. Other kids play Hide & Seek. But you and he play Hide & Be. Your parents died when you were two. The foster parents were sometimes nice and sometimes awful. They could never tell you apart because one of you would hide; the other would just be. Be bad. Be blamed. Be good. Get the Jesus Strap. Get the ice cream cone.

There were always eyes on you, then him. Wondering which one you were. There were always voices in your head, his. They can't judge you because you could always be him, or you. You did not need friends because you are his and he is yours. You learn you don't need anyone else; they can't see you, just him. Or are they looking at him, not you? If one of you dies, the other will be. You.

We are who we say we are. You think you see me—you don't.

You see us without knowing which of us you see. Your photographs, polygraphs, fingerprints, DNA hints, and courtroom theatrics don't say who we are. We are who we say we are! You are his brother, your twin. You see me but not him now, don't you? You are like us, identical twins, but you don't love your brother like I do mine. He is myself, and I am him.

Today is your birthday, his too. Why aren't you with him? Don't lie to us. We know why. You can live with him but not without him. Too late to choose. We are your redemption. You have a price to pay today. On your birthday. His too. Boo who. We are who we are!

In These Cruel Watchers we journey to an enchanted empire where monsters quake before men.

Princess Lyudmyla could be forgiven for not paying much attention to the cryptic eye that opened on the sun 300 years ago. The same can’t be said for the shape-shifting Jinni who lost their powers and were forced into hiding, exile, or worse. Even after centuries of war and dozens of failed prophecies, the eye has hovered there, showing no concern for the chaos below.

From the rugged Kievan Rus to the decadent splendor of the Imperial Palace of Elys. These Cruel Watchers follows Lyudmyla, whose acclaim as a falconer and attempts to sabotage her brother's strategic marriage go awry. Her world explodes when she is swept away by a betrayal and forced to live as a prisoner and a pawn to her enemies.

Adversaries surround her, a mysterious outlaw appeals for her heart, and there’s more to the ‘Eye’ than meets the eye. Her survival may demand that she embrace the ways of these cruel watchers -- or that she seize their throne.

Come, venture beyond the veil but tell no one what you've seen. The Watcher never sleeps.
